Examples in Spain
These images are from the Alhambra in Granada and the city walls of Cordoba. Both cities have a wealth of rammed earth heritage, in Spanish tapial or tierra apisonad up to a thousand years old.
The work has immense scale and longevity and subsequently had palaces built on top in brick and stone, using earth walls as their foundation.
Other things that interest are the curved walls and the earth retaining walls. How did they form the curves, and who engineered retaining walls?, no one knows.
If you are in that part of the world do go and take a look.
